Pie Berry Crunch

This is my first born Monkey, Pie Berry Crunch. Chris and I had been married about 8 years before we decided that we wanted kids. We got pregnant but suffered a miscarriage and then 6 long years of infertility. Once I accepted our fate of not ever having kids we started to get on with our life and enjoyed riding our new Harley, I became pregnant with Pie.

It was Chris who realized I was pregnant first. For some reason he could keep track of my cycles without the help of a calander. He talked me into testing and we finally got the + we never thought we'd see.

I was expecting to be considered "high risk" because of my age (34 at the time) and previous history. But my pregnancy went very smooth, up until it was eviction time. My water broke on our due date 12-21, but my body wouldn't cooperate and Pie was born by c-section at 11:27pm.

We struggled with breastfeeding for a few weeks. Thanks to my incredible sister and wonderful husband, who both encouraged me and wouldn't let me give up when almost everyone else thought I should, she's been a boobie baby every since.

I have no plans to "wean" her. She will stop nursing when she is good and ready.

Her nickname "Pie" kind of evolved as we spent more and more time together. It started out as SweetiePie or SugarPie. Pie just seemed to go with all the cute names I came up with for her. After awhile it just got shortened to "Pie". Her sister calls her Pie and she even refers to herself as Pie. I'm not quite sure how that is going to go when she starts school!!
