3.0

Yesterday afternoon right after Chris left for work, the girls and I settled down on the couch for a nap. They both fell asleep right away and I was thankful for a little break and some peace and quiet. All of a sudden BOOM! Our house shook. Hula and Lily looked at me and I looked at them. We all had that "What the..." look on our faces.

All I could think of was that lightening struck the ground really, really close, but there was no thunder. It still seems strange to me how much rain we get here but there is rarely any lightening and thunder, something that is much more common in Colorado.

I texted Chris to tell him something had happened, whatever it was and to let him know we were ok. The big old oak tree that lives behind our house was still standing and we weren't sliding down the mountain despite the 6+ inches of rain we've gotten in the last 2 days.

A bit later on the news it was reported that there was seisemic activity in our area! The University of Maine's seicometer recorded a 3.0 earthquake at at 4:42 pm and a 1.1 aftershock about 20 minutes later.
